Helping Families Working Toward Their Own Home
OUR CRITERIA
Together for a Greater Purpose helps eligible families purchase a home in the Greater Twin Cities area. Eligibility in our program is based on the applicant’s level of need. To qualify for a Down Payment Grant, applicants mist meet 100% of the criteria listed below:
- Meet the annual household income requirements
- Receive a referral from a social service organization (successfully complete required program) or independent family approved by TFGPurpose
- Have at least one child under the age of 15 living in the home full time and attending school on a regular basis
- Have a stable job with a minimum 2-year work history (and the ability to verify through a reference)
- Have a credit score 680 or higher
- Be willing to partner with Together for a Greater Purpose to invest time in their home
- Agree to sit with our Home Owner Coach to discuss budget, home maintenance, quality of life, etc..
- Agree to purchase their first home as their primary residence
- Have the ability to repay a mortgage through an affordable payment plan
- Agree to multiple yearly unscheduled visits with a Together for a Greater Purpose appointed Counselor/Social Worker to check on the stability of the family.
- Agree to maintain the property in good working order
- Agree to live in the property for a minimum of 3 years*
- Able to prove the information provided on the application is correct
* If you sell the house before the agreed 3 year period, you will need to repay a percentage of the downpayment/closing cost grant back to Together for a Greater Purpose, up to:
- 75% of Grant – 1 Year
- 50% of Grant – 2 Years
- 25% of Grant – 3 Years
- 0% – After 3 Years
